It just goes to show that you can’t be sure which way a T20 game will go until it’s gone, and that there might be value in each and every one of the Big Bash franchises, whatever the Cricket odds you’re seeing ahead of the game…

We’re talking about the first of the 2015 Big Bash Semi-Finals, which went to the Sixers, against the odds and very much against the script that Strikers fans had in mind. After a nearly-faultless season saw them to a convincing top spot on the ladder and a home Semi-Final, the Strikers were simply blown away by what amounted to a complete performance by the Sixers. The visitors posted an impressive 181 from their 20 overs, and the Strikers subsided to just a little over half that, losing their whole top order quickly and cheaply.

And that result makes the Cricket odds we’re seeing for the next Semi-Final, tonight, more than a little bit interesting, we’d say. The Scorchers go in as the favourites, with odds of $1.75, but we reckon there will be plenty of people taking a long look at Melbourne at $2.05. Then, of course, there’s the final on Wednesday night, but we’ll be taking a closer look at that game between now and then, so make sure you check back in with us!

Cricket Odds: Big Bash Semi-Finals Time

We won’t know for sure where the second of the Big Bash 2015 Semi-Finals will be held, because the Sixers are in action tonight against the Thunder (get all the Cricket odds by clicking that link!), but we know the teams that are going to be involved, and we know that the Strikers have already earned the right to host one of those three other teams at the Adelaide Oval on either the 24th or the 25th.

The Strikers have been in sizzling form and they’ve more than earned that home advantage, finishing the regular season three points clear of their nearest rivals, and with the best net run rate by a country mile. Along with the Scorchers (both teams are at odds of $3.25), they are the bookies’ favourites, too, to go on and win this year’s Big Bash Final. Significantly, they secured that home Semi-Final with a convincing win over the Sixers that saw them make short work of the Sydney top order – and that will give them good confidence going into the business end of the season. Remember, though, that it was the Scorchers who ended the Strikers’ perfect run in this year’s Big Bash, and both sides will have memories of that if they meet in a Semi-Final or in the Final itself.

Cricket Odds: Big Bash Crunch Time

The bookies at our favourite online betting sites only have four franchises left amongst the Cricket odds for the 2015 Big Bash, and three of them are in action before the semi-finals get underway. Tonight sees the Stars and the Scorchers clash in a game that will see both sides looking to lay down a serious marker ahead of a potential finals encounter, and then, tomorrow night, the Sixers get the chance to settle the nerves and right the right kind of form against the Thunder. That will be the plan, anyway…

Looking at the Cricket odds for those two games, you can see that it’s pretty tight between the Stars and the Scorchers, with odds of $1.87 the shorter of the two by a shade, and sitting next to the Scorchers on Sportsbet as of right now. The Sixers are expected to have an easier time of things against the Thunder, and they’re at odds of $1.38 to go into the semi-finals with a win behind them. Looking ahead to the finals, though, the Sixers are not the bookies’ favourites to make 2015 a winning year. Both the Strikers and the Scorchers are sitting on odds of $3.25 to claim the 2015 title, with the Stars a $3.75 bet and the Sixers seeing longer odds of $4.50. You’ll get the chance to see them in action tomorrow night, but they look to us like they might be value for a late charge.

Meanwhile, the tri-series continues on Friday night with another clash between Australia and England. For obvious reasons, the Aussies go into this one as strong favourites, but with odds of $2.38, and buckets of stung pride, plus strong motivation for players to grab a berth in the World Cup squad, the English might be worth a little look…

The semi-finals of this year’s Big Bash aren’t too far away (they’ll be hitting your screens on the 24th and 25th), and it’s the Strikers and the Scorchers who are in the prime spots at the top of the ladder. Looking at the Cricket odds we’re seeing, it’s the Scorchers who the bookies are backing to make a late charge and win the final, but can they find form at the crucial time?

The Strikers booked their place in the semi-finals with a convincing win over the third-placed Sixers, and that won’t just take the pressure off them in the remaining couple of games, but it will give them real confidence going into the business end of the season. The Scorchers, meanwhile, looked a little lacking with the bat against the Hurricanes last time out, but their bowling brought them home, and put them in the top spot on the ladder. There’s work to do for both sides, of course, and the beauty of the Big Bash is that pretty much anything can happen, and probably will!

The Strikers are unbeaten going into tonight’s game against the Scorchers, and it’ll be a massive result if they can win it after the Stars did them a favour with a thrilling super-over defeat of the Sixers. And looking at the Cricket odds, the Strikers go in as decent $1.68 favourites to continue a sizzling run of form that has them sitting pretty at the top of the ladder.

With any luck the game will be every bit as exciting as some of the others we’ve seen in this year’s Big Bash – the two sides certainly have the star quality to light up the Adelaide Oval! It’s going to be a tough test for the Scorchers, mind you, who will have to win if they’re going keep their finals hopes burning brightly – they’re currently two wins and two defeats from the season so far, and another loss will make things difficult for the season finale. Add to that the form of the Strikers, and it’s going to be a busy night at the office for Justin Langer’s men – but at odds of $2.15 we’re not convinced they’re not value…

It hasn’t been the tour that they would have wanted, and it’s seen at least one high-profile casualty in Test captain MS Dhoni, but India’s superstar line-up have one more chance to salvage some pride from their trip Down Under.
