A number of injuries have cast a shadow over the Kangaroo's chances against New Zealand in their opening Four Nations tie on October 24.

Australia are still the clear favourites for the competition in the rugby league betting markets, on odds of 1.22 with Centrebet, while New Zealand stand on 6.50 with the same bookmaker.

But Australian coach Tim Sheens has said he is unwilling to take anyone into the tournament if they are not 100 per cent fit, with a number of players already removed from the squad.

St George Illawarra winger Brett Morris has been called into the side after Brisbane’s Israel Folau was scratched because of an ankle problem.

Three others; Nathan Hindmarsh, Brett White and Kurt Gidley, are also battling knocks ahead of the start of a training camp on Tuesday.

After Australia and New Zealand, Centrebet is offering odds of 7.00 on England, while France remain the big outsiders on odds of 151.00

The Kiwis go into the tournament having successfully tied up the services of coach Steve Kearney after he put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.

"To have the backing of the New Zealand Rugby League’s board to continue on a long-term basis gives me confidence we can build on what we have started. I’m really grateful for the support," he said.
