It’s a great time to be a tennis fan. The Men’s side of the game has seen in recent times a period of dominance by the ‘big four’, but that feels like it’s changing. The same few players have been battling it out in pretty much every Grand Slam final for years, and only time and titles will tell if they can become true legends of the game (though Federer has already got Hall of Fame written all over him), but for the time being it looks like the hold of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray on the very top of the game might be slipping: the 2014 US Open Final was the first major tournament in years that didn’t feature any of those four players, Andy Murray has slipped briefly out of the top 10 spots in the rankings, and Federer isn’t getting any younger.

Add to that a crop of ambitious youngsters all looking to emerge from the long shadows cast by those four giants of the modern games, and it looks like all bets are on in Men’s Tennis in 2015 and beyond. And the WTA is seeing some competition beginning to hot up again, as well. All four Slams in 2014 were won by different women, and there’s a sense coming back into the Women’s’ game that anyone can beat anyone else on their day. And, of course, both sides of the sport have been captivating viewing all year, and have been drawing the usual massive crowds at venues and on the TV.

The modern game is just getting better and better to watch, too. Replay technology is appearing in all sorts of sports, from the NRL to Cricket, and Tennis’ challenge system brings that same tension to the court. It’s the biggest change in the game since the introduction of the tie-break back in the 70s, and it’s been a good one. With both the Men’s and Women’s Tours incredibly competitive at the moment, there are lots of possibilities for head-to-head betting, and you’ll likely see some odds that you like the look of, especially with the live in-play option at top online betting sites.

With all that excitement come some great possibilities for placing bets on the Tennis. This is a fantastic sport to bet on, as well as to watch. There’s lots of Tennis to enjoy through the course of the year, and it’s happening pretty much every day somewhere around the world. The Tour schedule keeps the players incredibly busy as they move between the four big Grand Slams and the Masters Series – and there’s the Davis Cup to keep you interested, too! Starting in January with our very own Australian Open, which has been thrilling Australian crowds since 1905, the Grand Slams are the huge highlights in the Tennis calendar both for fans and for punters.

Moving from the hard courts of the Australian Open to the clay at Roland Garros for the French Open, then onto the carefully manicured lawns of Wimbledon before a return to the hard courts for the US Open, the Tour gives you lots to enjoy all year round. Betting on Tennis is easy to love, as well – with head-to-head bets obviously popular, and plenty of markets on the tournaments, as well. You can bet on a player to go all the way in a particular tournament, pick their stage of exit, or take on one of any number of markets on offer at leading online bookmakers like Sportingbet or Easybet.

Even better, lots of the best online betting sites will give you great in-play betting options, which are especially good for Tennis, with the option to bet on every point if you like, and the chance of cashing in on a big comeback if you’re reading the game right...

It isn’t just the four big Grand Slam tournaments that are great for betting, either. The Masters Series offers you the same chance to back players in head-to-head clashes, as well as to claim the ultimate victory – the ATP World Tour Finals is a highlight at the end of the Tennis year in November, and it sees the top eight players in the world battling it out to claim the title. The quality of the World Tour Finals is incredibly high, and there’s no shortage of media attention focussed on it – plus plenty of attention from the online betting sites, too, and that means lots of special offers and dozens of futures and markets...

    Where’s Your Tennis betting Money?

We’ve already said that there are lots of great bets on offer on the Tennis, but there’s such a range that it bears repeating. In a head-to-head match, the best online Tennis bookmakers will offer you literally dozens of options for you to choose from, and that’s without even considering the choice of live in-play betting with constantly shifting odds. Look out for betting on individual sets within the match and handicap betting on head-to-head fixtures, as well as markets on how many games are played and what the winning margin is.

In-play betting is particularly good for Tennis, because it can be a game that sees incredible shifts in momentum, and in which the astonishing fight back is always a possibility (take, for example, the 2011 US Open Semi-Final that at one stage saw Novak Djokovic getting odds of $40 and more to save a couple of match points and go on to win it, which he promptly did). So, if you can read the game and you’re looking to make it even more exciting, then think about some in-play betting!

And then, if you’re betting on a Grand Slam, you’ve got all the excitement that comes with a tournament. With careful assessment of players’ fitness, form and considering their likely path through the tournament, you can make the most of the huge number of Grand Slam betting markets on offer. In head-to-head games, previous form against an opponent and on a surface can give you a good idea of which way to bet, and in the tournaments, you have to take all that and more in account – that’s what makes it so compelling!
