NRL expert tips and predictions for NRL Round 1 matches

NRL is back this week with a host of tight looking match ups, but as ever, our experts have been working hard to come up with the Round 1 top picks.

And don't forget, if place your Round 1 NRL bets with Sportsbet, then all new customers can enjoy an exclusive instant free bet up to $150 on the NRL, just click on the odds and bet with the bookies' money!

Round 1 - 3 Star bet:
New Zealand Warriors didn't really get the credit they deserved last season, mainly due to a below par performance in the Grand Final. But they've got a great chance to redeem themselves against the Sea Eagles - who with a new coach, and some personnel changes, will not relish a trip across the Tasmin to Eden Park. The Warriors are rightly strong favourites at $1.65 to win on the head to head markets. But we're happy to back them giving up a 3.5pts start to the Sea Eagles at odds of $1.90.

Round 1 - 2 Star bets:
The positive impact of a new head coach shoould never be underestimated, especially when those coaches are Wayne Bennett and Des Hasler. And we strongly fancy both Newcastle Knights and Canterbury Bulldogs to make winning starts.
The Knights are at home to the Dragons, and the Bulldogs away to the Panthers.
Back both teams to win their head to head matches at $1.59 and $1.71 respectively.
A multi with Sportsbet is paying an attractive price of just over $3.00

Round 1 - 1 Star bets:
Our remaining tips for Round one are as follows
Melbourne Storm to win at Canberra at odds of $1.60
North Queensland Cowboys to beat Gold Coast Titans at $1.50

The games at Parramatta, Wests and Sydney look too close to call.

All the NRL odds 2012 futures are online now.

Good luck for Round 1! And we'll be keeping a running total of all our NRL tips throughout the season, so don't forget to bookmark our site and check our progress each week, or follow us on twitter @ausprogambler
