Futures betting in advance of the race itself. Something which is normally confined to the biggest races (Melbourne Cup, Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate). In the UK, futures betting is referred to as "ante post" betting.
What does Evens or Even Money refer to?This is when the payout is double your stake. Or in decimal prices, the odds are 2.0. if your stake is AU$5 at 2.0 (evens) and is succesful, then you win a further AU$5. So have AU$10 in total
What is a Nap?At any given meeting, a tipster will give his NAP. Which is their best bet of the day at the track.
When is a bet Odds on?Odds on is when a price is LESS than 2.0. Effectively meaning that the horse/selection has more than a 50% chance of winning. For example, a horsee may be odds of 1.80 (or 4/5 in fractional odds.) If you place a AU$10 bet on this horse, you would get AU$18 back in total if it wins. Less than double your money
