Kangaroos to target England youngsters in Four Nations final
Posted on November 14th 2009 by
Australia have hinted they will be targeting England's young half backs when they take on the hosts in the Four Nations final today.
Youngsters Kyle Eastmond and Sam Tomkins combined well in England's 20-12 victory over New Zealand last weekend, and the Kangaroos' coach has hinted the 20-year-olds could come in for some special attention at Elland Road.
Quoted by The Guardian, Australia coach Tim Sheens said: "It's a new combination for England, too.
"We'll certainly have to put that combination under a bit of pressure and see how it works then."
However giant Huddersfield forward Eorl Crabtree had his own warning for Australia, saying the young duo have so far handled "everything that's been thrown at them".
His comments came as Australia firmed to 1.21 favourites for the win, with hosts England at 4.50 with Centrebet's rugby league betting market.
The same bookmaker believes Australia are capable of chalking up a handsome win, offering odds of 1.88 for a Kangaroos win of more than 13 points, to 3.20 for an Australian victory of 1 to 12 points.
