A dramatic finish at Goodison Park jolted Manchester United’s title challenge as Chelsea continued in emphatic fashion to take a two point lead at the top of the Premier League table as we go into the fifth round of fixtures.

Sunderland v Arsenal
Arsenal are a sight to behold on the football pitch when they get things right, and in midweek against SC Braga they did exactly that smashing, nay, caressing six past their hapless Portuguese opponents. The return to Premier League action this weekend, however, provides a much sterner test as they travel to the Stadium of light to take on Sunderland.

Sunderland have recently beaten Manchester City 1-0 on their home patch and recorded a victory over The Gunners by the same score line in this fixture last season. Sportsbet have Arsenal as the $1.67 favourites but despite their brilliant win in midweek I couldn’t advocate backing them at that price.

Instead I’d plump for ‘Sunderland And Draw’ in the Double Chance market at odds of $2.20.

Manchester United v Liverpool
Given the relative disappointing starts that each of these teams have had to the season some might say that this game takes on a greater significance than it otherwise would. In fact, the majority would counteract that that it is not possible.

No matter what the circumstances Manchester United versus Liverpool games are always massive occasions and this is no exception. United will be happy to be playing at Old Trafford after disappointing away draws to both Everton and Fulham in the league, conversely Liverpool are likely to be shirking at the prospect given their poor away record of late.

I can only see this game going one way and Sportsbet odds of $1.73 on a home win looks the best bet to be had.

Chelsea v Blackpool
Nobody would argue with the fact that Chelsea have been in scintillating form this season, however, it is certainly also fair to say that they have yet to face any of the Premier League’s bigger sides. In fact, of their four games played this season none of them have been against clubs that finished in the top half of the Premier League last season.

That favourable run of fixtures continues this weekend with the visit of Blackpool before the acid test of Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa in consecutive Premier League fixtures.

So, I think we can expect one last hurrah from The Blues before they are perhaps forced to rein in their attacking intents with games against some of their fellow title challengers. Sportsbet offer odds of $2.20 on Chelsea to score 4 or more goals and $1.73 on there being 4 or more goals in the match, both of which look good value bets.
