Super Bowl XLVIII promises to be a great NFL season ending finale, with the Denver Bronco's awesome offense coming up against the superb defense of the Seattle Seahawks. At the start of the season Denver and Seattle were amongst the favourites to lift the Super Bowl, at odds of 8.00 and 9.00 respectively. It really is the battle of offense v defense, the classic irresistible force meets immovable object. Lets check the key stats. Regular Season Ranking in (brackets)

Offense

Seattle Seahawks26.1 (9th)339.0 (17th)202.2 (26th)136.8 (4th)

Denver Broncos24.9 (22nd)356.0 (19th)254.4 (27th)101.6 (8th)

So it is the best offense matching up against the best defense. Which is exactly how it should be for a Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks Key Players and Big Stats

Russell Wilson (QB)
Whilst Seattle might not quite have a first class offense, Wilson has the most regular-season wins in his first two seasons of any QB since 1950, he is the only player in NFL history to have a 100+ passer rating in both his rookie and second seasons.

Legion of Boom
The Seahawks defensive unit is the best in the league, and is lead by charismatic talisman and prolific self promoter Richard Sherman. A hard hitting well drilled unit which you can see from the defensive stats above, ranked 1st for 3 out of the 4 categories.

Pete Carroll (Coach)
The second oldest coach in the NFL at 62, Carroll becomes the 6th coach to lead a franchise to the postseason in his first year on the job. Carroll has also previously taken the Patriots to the playoffs, and also coached the New York Jets, If Seattle wins Super Bowl XLVIII, Carroll will become the third oldest coach to do so, behind Giants' Tom Coughlin and Rams' Dick Vermeil. Seattle's defense has improving remarkably under Carroll's leadership, being ranked 27th in 2010, 9th in 2011, 4th in 2012 and of course 1st in 2013.

Defense wins the Super Bowl
Seattle become the 25th team to lead both total a scoring defense categories since 1940, and of the 14 times that one of those 25 teams has reached the Super Bowl, it has won the title on 9 occasions. Most recently in 2008 with the Steelers.

The offensive Lynch-pin
Showing that it isn't all about defense for Seattle, Marshawn Lynch has rushed for more than 100 yards in 4 of his 6 career playoff games including 100 yard plus efforts against the Saints and the 49ers on the way to Super Bowl XLVIII.

Denver Broncos Key Players and Big Stats

Peyton Manning (QB)
Manning has just completed the best ever regular season by any QB in NFL history with 5477 yards passing and 55 Touchdowns. If the Broncos win the Super Bowl, he will become the first QB to win it with two different franchises, having previously prevailed with the Colts.

Are you Receiving me?
Usually, Yes. Denver's receiving unit is unparalleled in the league and is led by Pro Bowl selection Demaryius Thomas. The Broncos have 4 receivers with 10 or more TDs and 60 or more catches...each. They are Thomas, Julius Thomas, Eric Decker and Wes Welker. Nine different receivers had at least 10 catches during the regular season, with eight different receivers catching TDs. Demaryius Thomas and Decker both had more than 1,000 yards for the second season in a row.
The Seahawks defensive unit is the best in the league, and is lead by charismatic talisman and prolific self promoter Richard Sherman. A hard hitting well drilled unit which you can see from the defensive stats above, ranked 1st for 3 out of the 4 categories.

John Fox (Coach)
Fox also joins Carroll in becoming the 6th coach to take 2 franchises to the Super Bowl and with 115 wins wins under his belt, ranks fifth among active NFL coaches. In his three seasons at Mile High he is 37-16 including a 3-2 post season record.

Been There Done That
Denver have plenty of Super Bowl experience, having reached the finale a total of 6 times, holding a 2-4 record. A record which looks distinctly better when you consider that the Broncos have won in their last two Super Bowls.

Half Way There
Broncos fans will be hoping that their team is leading at half time, as Denver are now 4-1 all time in postseason when leading at half time, the only loss being the Super Bowl XXI when they lead the Giants 10-9 only to lose 39-20.

Better Defense
Whilst Denver's defense stats are generally poor, they are getting better. In the first 14 games they gave up an average of 26.6 points and 372 yards per game, however in the last 4 games they have returned some tight stats of 15 points and 269 yards. So things are looking up!
