Betfair's tennis betting market has responded to Nikolay Davydenko's Shanghai victory by cutting his Australian Open odds to 27.00.

The 28-year-old looked impressive in despatching Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the Masters final on Sunday, beating the Spaniard 7-6, 6-3.

He has dipped from 60.00 for January's open, having at one point been out at around 100.00.

He said after the victory: "I think I was a little bit lucky, but mostly I was playing very well today. I did a good job in three weeks in Asia."

Nadal, who has battled abdominal and knee problems all summer, has climbed slightly, on odds of 5.80.

Besides the final, Nadal had looked convincing throughout the Shanghai event and could be on the way to putting his injury concerns behind him.

Davydenko's victory also puts him closer to qualifying for the ATP World Tour Finals in London at the end of the season.

The win sees him climb one place in the ATP world rankings to number six, behind Juan Martin Del Potro.

Andy Murray, Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are all in the running for the event at the O2 Arena in London.
