The Czech Republic are hoping for a 'miracle' when they take on Spain in the Davis Cup final in December, player Tomas Berdych has said.

Spain have a 19-match record unbeaten on clay, and will play on the same surface in December's showdown in Barcelona.

They can count on home support and the backing of the bookmakers, with IASbet rating them at 1.12 to take the honours, while the visitors are currently on 5.50 in the early online tennis betting market for the event.

Berdych said: "Definitely it’s going to be a dream come true if the miracle is going to happen and we can bring back the three points from Spain.

"For us and all of Czech Republic it’s a great achievement so far. We’re happy but not satisfied yet.

"In tennis, almost everything is possible so we’re really looking forward to going there.”

Berdych first played in the Davis Cup six years ago and has since built a commanding 21-7 record in the competition.

He is expected to team up with Radek Stepanek at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, reuniting what has been a largely successful partnership for the Czechs.

Both won opening day singles rubbers in five sets in the semi-final against Croatia, before clinching the decisive doubles tie.
