England centre Lee Smith has extra motivation for the Four Nations as he plays his last-ever rugby league tournament.

The 23-year-old is switching league for union, heading from Leeds Rhinos to London Wasps, and is looking to go out on a high.

He hopes to help England overcome their World Cup disappointment, starting with the opening Four Nations match against France at Doncaster's Keep Moat stadium.

He will be hoping England can make good their tag as outstanding favourites for the match, on odds of 1.03 at Betfair's rugby league betting market.

France, who are also the rank outsiders for the competition, are on 34.00 for the match with the same bookmaker.

Smith said: "It's a good challenge for me to end on. I had a great ending to my Leeds career and I hope to be successful in this four-week period."

He is also hoping England can bounce back from disappointment in last year's World Cup, when they crashed out to New Zealand in the semi-finals.

"This opens a new door. Last year probably wasn't the best time for me internationally; we didn't do that well down there. We've got points to prove and hopefully can do that on home turf," he added.
