This season he was number two in the world for a short period of time, and the season as a whole has been one of the best he has experienced as a player.
At Wimbledon, he reached the semi-finals before being beaten by Andy Roddick, from the United States.

He also became the first British player to win at Queens since 1938. The obvious prize now is a Grand Slam title, and Murray has been talking frankly about his own feelings regarding his progress.

Speaking to The Guardian, he said: “I always felt I could play my best tennis between 23 and 26 so I’m hoping next year is going to be a good year. “I got to no2 in the world this year, which is the highest I’ve ever been in the rankings. “I won more tournaments than I did last year and my consistency was way better.

“The difference in the rankings is winning a Grand Slam, which is easier said than done.”

The next Grand Slam tournament is the Australian Open, and according to bookies Betfair, Murray is on at 7.6 to take the title.
