Wedding out the window in battle for Four Nations glory

Australia are clearly prepared to make big sacrifices to justify their Four Nations odds – one player is even postponing his wedding to make the tournament.

Melbourne Storm prop Brett White is moving his big day so he can join the Kangaroos' tour of Europe, with the bookies rating them as hot favourites for the competition.

IASbet has them on odds of 1.25, with England and New Zealand tied behind them on 6.00.

White's call for the Kangaroos is his first from the selectors but elation turned to anxiety when he realised the date of his wedding to Cassie Adland was one day after the squad jets off for Europe tomorrow.

But in a statement White said he and his partner had decided to move their date so he can pull on the green and gold for the first time.

"I always knew women in league played an important role but I’ve obviously lucked out with the best woman in the business," he said.

"We will now re-schedule the wedding for later in the year."

He also said it was going to be an "expensive outcome" due to the need to move dates but said he was "grateful" his love had been prepared to make the sacrifice.

IASbet still has France as the wild outsiders, on odds of 126.00 for the competition.
