AFL Round 13 betting preview and best bets of the weekend

Another split round this week has thrown up some incredibly one-sided looking games which will have the mutli bet "money stealers" licking their lips. But as ever, value is what all AFL punters should be looking for not short odds favourites.

Hawthorn host West Coast on Friday night at the Etihad and are probably a tad too short in the betting at $1.16 against an Eagles team beginning to find form. West Coast beat the Saints at this venue a couple of rounds back, but this will be an entirely different proposition. That said, the Eagles should not be entirely dismissed. We're tipping the Hawks to win by 1-39 points at good odds of $2.30.

Port Adelaide thrashed GWS last week, but so does everyone else. Sydney are looking tremendous at the moment and will beat Port comfortably, the question is by how much? The Swans are priced at $1.10 to win the game, but we'd prefer to take the $1.92 on offer for Sydney to win by over 36.5 points.

Another team priced at $1.10 this week is St Kilda, and we're steering well clear of the Saints for many reasons. Melbourne have been awful all season but a new coach can add 40 points to a team in his first game as players fight for their places. So we think this could be a real shock and we're speculating on the Demons at a massive $7.50 for small stakes.

Richmond will beat the Western Bulldogs by more than the 34.5 points handicap line so include that bet in all multis at $1.92. The Tigers comprehensive win over the Crows proves they are on the way to the top 8 this year.
