Hawthorn v Sydney head to head odds

Fans of a neutral disposition will be hoping that these two can buck the trend of recent low-scoring clashes in these fixtures; the last three encounters have been decided by five, six and six points with 82 being the highest score kicked by either team in the previous three years.

This promises to be another tight match-up; Sydney are unbeaten away from the SCG and have won two of the last three times these sides have met at the MCG. Hawthorn however, go into the match in better form having won three of their last four.

The Cats’ evisceration of an injury-hit Giants made it just one win in five now for Leon Cameron‘s side, as they struggle to cope with the loss of key personnel. Registering just 32 points at the Cattery, the club’s second lowest score in its history, they currently lie tenth in the point-scoring ranks.

The Eagles came through what had promised to be a stern test against Power, easing to a relatively comfortable seven goal victory last weekend. With six wins in a row, they have established themselves as the only team with the ability to keep pace with the Tigers; a win here will make it seven wins in a row for the first time since 1996.

Carlton v Essendon head to head odds
Team Odds

The Blues’ travails show no signs of letting up after suffering a seventh straight loss last week, although there may be salvation in the shape of a mediocre Bombers outfit this round. There were brief moments of optimism last week with the Blues sticking to their task gamely but the gulf in class was telling, with the Crows sealing a convincing 125-70 win.

Essendon continue to frustrate and lie in the bottom four with a finals place looking like a remote possibility at present. With five losses in the last six games, the Bombers are having problems scoring with an average of 81 points - down from 95 last year.

With several key players expected to make a return this week, this may be as good an opportunity as any for the Blues to break their duck in 2018.

Gold Coast v Melbourne head to head odds

Melbourne 1.30 Bet Now
Gold Coast showed an ample amount of fighting spirit in defeat to the Bulldogs last week but were undone once more by their inability to finish the game strongly - they are the competition’s worst performing fourth quarter team.

Travel obligations may be playing a part in the fatigue on show in the latter stages of games and they will be desperate to return to home territory.

The Demons come into this one buoyed by a 39-point win over the Saints to claim their fourth win of the season and will be hoping to complete a third straight win to put pressure on the sides above them.

Derby day in the City of Churches reignites local rivalries as the high-flying Crows take on their unpredictable neighbours. The Power are experiencing a mixed campaign so far, and have dropped off the pace alarmingly since opening the year with three wins on the bounce.

The Crows shrugged off a perplexing hamstring injury crisis to record an excellent win over a hapless Carlton side last week and are now 5-2 despite the crippling casualty list.

The third placed Crows are looking to consolidate their superiority over their South Australian counterparts with a sixth consecutive win here.

The 81-72 win over the Suns gave the Bulldogs their third win of the year and they take on another Queensland outfit this week in the form of the winless Brisbane Lions. The victory was inspired by Jack Macrae who delivered a performance worthy of three Brownlow votes as he led his side to a hard-fought win.

The Lions played their part in a gripping encounter on Sunday afternoon, as they took on the Pies in a battle that unexpectedly produced the joint highest scoring game of the year with 37 goals. Unfortunately for Brisbane though, the match failed to yield the first victory that continues to elude them and have they now racked up a dismal 0-7 record.

Fremantle v St Kilda head to head odds

The Dockers will be eager to return to the comforting surroundings of Optus Stadium following last week’s humiliation in Melbourne at the hands of the Tigers. They have enjoyed three wins out of four so far at their new home, averaging 98 points to boot and they will be relishing the visit of a St Kilda side who haven’t tasted victory since the opening round of the year.

The Saints are experiencing an excruciating lack of accuracy in front of the posts; kicking a combined 45.78 over the past six matches. They have the advantage of a good recent record in this particular fixture though, winning four of the last five meetings.

The Kangaroos pulled off a stunning win over the Swans 68-66 at the SCG in round 7 and approach this week’s acid test against the reigning Premiers in sparkling form. However, they face a Richmond side who are threatening to turn this year’s competition into a procession.

Top of the ladder with a 6-1 record, an overwhelming percentage and a roster in tip-top condition, the defence of their premiership is running like clockwork so far.

Collingwood v Geelong head to head odds
Team Odds
Collingwood 2.50 Bet Now
Geelong 1.54 Bet Now
The Pies responded to the heavy loss to the Tigers in round 5 in fine style courtesy of an entertaining win over the Lions on Sunday afternoon. It has been an encouraging start to the campaign for Collingwood, with their dominant midfield providing the platform for the improvements this year.

A stellar performance from the Cats helped down GWS last week, despite being deprived of some integral players. The 10 goal margin emphasised Geelong’s dominance over the Giants who were restricted to just 32 points. The manner in which the Cats exerted their authority over a fellow top six side augers well that they can continue to win matches until they are bolstered by the return of those currently on the casualty list.
