AFL Round 14 betting preview and best bets

Round 14 kicks off on Friday night at the MCG when the Sydney Swans travel to Melbourne to take on the floundering Richmond Tigers. The Tiges improved a bit last week in the defeat to Fremantle but their skill levels are still woeful. The Swans have now won seven games on the spin and knocked off ladder leaders Port Adelaide last week, but come into this with a couple of new injuries, which is enough to put us off backing them to win by 40+ points.

You're not going to get rich backing the Swans here, but they are a class above at the moment and should be included in all Round 14 multis at $1.18.

Next up the Western Bulldogs travel to fortress Adelaide Oval and atre $8.50 to grab shock win over Port Adelaide. That's too much too ask, but after a confidence boosting win over Collingwood last week the Bulldogs should be backed at $1.92 getting a 46.5 points start on the handicap line.

The biggest game of the round is Hawthorn v Collingwood on Saturday afternoon where the Hawks are $1.36 to make it six wins on the bounce against the Magpies - another one for your weekend multi.

Metricon Stadium could be the venue for the shock result of Round 14 where we give Gold Coast Suns a real chance of beating Geelong Cats at generous odds of $2.75 and should be backed accordingly.

Fremantle entertain Brisbane and the Lions are worth a look with a 55.5 points start here at $1.92 against a Dockers side who generally score less than 100 points.

Neither Essendon or Adelaide can be trusted at the moment so we'll be giving this game a miss for betting purposes, and of more interest is the $1.40 available for Carlton which looks over the odds for the Blues trip to GWS.

St Kilda should be backed with a 43.5 points start at $1.92 at home to the West Coast Eagles who travel poorly, and double that up with Melbourne receiving a 20.5 points start versus North Melbourne in the twilight game on Sunday afternoon.

Best outsider: Gold Coast to beat Geelong at $2.75

Multi Bet: Hawthorn / Carlton / Sydney at $2.25
