AFL Round 15 betting preview and best bets

AFL Round 15 special, if your team leads at any break (Q1 / Q2 / Q3) but goes on to lose the match, Sportsbet.com.au will refund your bet up to $100. Applies to every R15 game. See website for Ts and Cs.

Round 15 kicks off at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night where Geelong will be hungry to bounce back from a 40 point Gold Coast mauling and it's Essendon who will be in the firing line. The Bombers got over the line in Round 14 against Adelaide, but this will tougher, much tougher. The Cats will be hurting after last weekend's loss and we're backing them to bounce back and win at $1.92 giving up 22.55 points on the handicap line at Sportsbet.com.au.

On Saturday afternoon at 1:45pm Hawthorn take on the Gold Coast Suns at Aurora Stadium in Tasmania. The Hawks are justifiably short priced favourites at $1.21 but we won't be backing them to beat the Suns at that price. Gold Coast are $4.50 and they're worth a small punt at those odds in light of Hawthorn's ongoing injuries.

Richmond and St Kilda play back at the Etihad on Saturday and the Tigers are priced up at just $1.15 - way under the odds given the horrible recent results (and performances!). Not a game to get heavily involved in from a betting point of view but the Saints plus 31.5 points at the line looks fair.

The Western Derby sees a red hot Fremantle Dockers team play West Coast Eagles at 4:40pm Eastern time and it's hard to get away from Freo here, even at cramped odds of $1.27. The Dockers should be in your Round 15 multis.

Sydney were beaten at odds of $1.10 the last time they played the GWS Giants and they're a similar price this time at $1.13. Will lightening strike twice? We don't think so. The Swans have won nine straight and should be too powerful for an improving GWS team.

North Melbourne head to Queensland on Saturday night and should be way too strong for the woeful Brisbane Lions and we're looking to back the Kangaroos to win by over 40 points at odds of $1.92. Another one for your weekend multis.

Sunday's lunchtime game at Eithad Stadium (the 3rd of the weekend) sees the inconsistent Western Bulldogs start as warm $1.68 favourites against an improving Melbourne side. We've touted the Demons as betting propositions in recent weeks but they simply don't have enough firepower up front, yet. The Doggies are worth a few extra goals at home we're keen on odds of $2.30 for them to win by over 15.5 points.

Next up it's the Showdown at Adelaide Oval and this could be the game where Port Adelaide come unstuck. Anything can happen in a derby which is why we're interested in taking on Port. The Adelaide Crows are priced at $3.15 and that could be decent value.

The Round culminates in a big one at the MCG, Collingwood v Carlton. It's no surprise the Magpies are short favourites here at $1.26 but we'd rather take a punt on the unpredictable Blues with a 26.5 points start on the handicap line at odds of $1.92.
