AFL Round 6 Matches And Betting Odds
Posted on April 26th 2010 by TJ Dilfer
AFL Round 6 betting odds, fixtures, previews and betting tips.
Round 5 brought with it a fair share of upsets, as highlighted in last week's preview, never has one round of the AFL contained so many bankers. And with St Kilda coming unstuck, a raft of multis also came undone. This week's games look a lot closer.
Friday 30th April AFL fixtures
Bulldogs vs St Kilda @ The Etihad Stadium, Melbourne. 7:40pm
St Kilda suffered a shock defeat away to Port Adelaide last week at very short odds, and will look to bounce back this week against a Bulldogs side in good form. This has the hallmarks of a great Friday night game; And for the first time in the 2010 season, St Kilda will start a game as underdogs. We think the bookies are overreacting to a single defeat, and we'll be backing The Saints to get back on track.
Bulldogs best odds: $1.76 with IASbet
St Kilda best odds: $2.09 with Centrebet
Saturday 1st May AFL fixtures
North Melbourne vs Melbourne @ The Etihad Stadium, Melbourne. 2:10pm
Both teams head into the local derby at The Etihad stadium on a high, and Melbourne especially will be overflowing with confidence after putting The Lions to the sword last week. North Melbourne edged past Hawthorn in Round 5 and will put up a stern test - but a team who can beat the much touted Brisbane Lions by 50 points should be followed. Take Melbourne to win again.
North Melbourne best odds: 2.05 with Sportsbet
Melbourne best odds: 1.78 with Sportsbet
Adelaide vs Port Adelaide @ The AAMI Stadium, Adelaide. 3:10pm
Another local derby, hardly of the quality of the Etihad Stadium clash, but a keenly contested clash nevertheless. Adelaide are woeful, and have never got going at all this season, whilst Port Adelaide were impressive whilst inflicting St Kilda's first defeat of the season. For some reason, the bookies still remain wary of Adelaide, and as such, Port Adelaide are overpriced here at odds of $1.57 with IASbet where you can bet $50 and get a free $100 bet.
Adelaide best odds: $2.47 with Centrebet
Port Adelaide best odds: $1.57 with IASbet
Essendon vs Hawthorn @ The MCG, Melbourne. 7:10pm
Essendon were completely thrashed in th ANZAC day clash with Collingwood and look time a team bereft of confidence and ideas. Hawthorn aren't much better. and these two sides both sit near the foot of the ladder on 1-4. A poor game in the offing, no bet is the advice.
Essendon best odds: $2.61 with Centrebet
Hawthorn best odds: $1.50 with IASbet
Sydney vs Brisbane @ The SCG, Sydney. 7:10pm
Sydney sit proudly on to of the AFL ladder, not something which is going down too well in Victoria at the moment! Brisbane were looking equally as impressive prior to being thumped by Melbourne last week, which casts serious doubts on the their title aspirations. We fancy Sydney strongly for this one, and are not scared to make it the value banker bet of the week with IASbet at $1.60.
Sydney best odds: $1.60 with IASbet
Brisbane best odds: $2.44 with Centrebet
Sunday 2nd May AFL fixtures
Geelong vs Richmond @ The Skilled Stadium, Geelong. 1:10pm
Geelong MUST be the shortest price for a head-to-head game in AFL betting history at $1.02 with IASbet. Wether that is a fair price or not will remain to be seen, but anyone investing any money at odds of $1.02 for any match in any sport needs to have a serious think about their betting strategy. Richmond are utterly useless in every department. No bet.
Geelong best odds: $1.03 with Sportsbet
Richmond best odds: $14.00 with Centrebet
Carlton vs Collingwood @ The MCG, Melbourne. 2:10pm
Carlton really shook the betting markets when comfortably seeing off Geelong last week, which makes this clash much more interesting than it would have been. That said, Collingwood really look the business this season, and one swallow doesn't make a summer. Stick with the Pies, and include them in multis with Sydney as Round 6 banker bets.
Carlton best odds: $2.44 with Centrebet
Collingwood best odds: $1.58 with Sportsbet
West Coast vs Fremantle @ The Subiaco, Perth. 4:40pm
The final match of Round 6 sees Freo take on West Coast in WA. The home side are 1-4 so far and were put away with ease by Sydney last week. Freo look ok this season and are sitting joint top of the table on 4-1. If Fremantle are to prove real contenders this season they need to win comfortably in Perth, and they should, include in Round 6 multis.
West Coast best odds: $2.89 with Centrebet
Fremantle best odds: $1.45 with IASbet
