Round 7 AFL fixtures with betting odds and tips.

Friday May 07, 2010 7:40 pm
Melbourne vs. Western Bulldogs MCG

Both teams go into this clash at the MCG on 3-3 for the season, with in-form Melbourne's winning run being snapped by The Roos last week. NAB Cup winners, The Western Bulldogs, are difficult to assess with any great confidence due to their up and down form. A defeat last week to St Kilda is no disgrace though, and the Dogs should have too much class and power for Melbourne here. Bet with Sportsbet and take the Dogs to win by between 1 - 39 points at odds of $2.25.

Saturday May 08, 2010 2:10 pm
Essendon vs. Port Adelaide Etihad Stadium

The Power have won the last five games against Essendon, and there is little love lost in this match up. The two teams haven't met since fronting up in Round One of the 2009 season and this is difficult to call. Sportsbet make The Bombers $1.75 and The Power $2.09, those odds look a little bit unbalanced to me and I had the pair at $1.91 choice. Given that, take the $2.09 for Port Adelaide to small stakes.

Saturday May 08, 2010 3:10 pm
West Coast vs. Hawthorn Subiaco

Jarry Roughead's odds for the Coleman Medal Betting Odds took a bit of a drift as he took much of the grief for last week's loss, and he needs to come back to form against West Coast. The Hawks remain injury ravaged and below par in what is looking like a long season for them. But at just $1.53, West Coast are not a good bet. No bet advised here.

Saturday May 08, 2010 7:10 pm
Collingwood vs. North Melbourne MCG

The Pies are the real deal this season, make no mistake. They should be 100%, their only (close) loss coming against St Kilda when their kicking was woeful. North Melbourne are ok, but they shouldn't stop the Collingwood march to the finals. Sportsbet make The Pies only $1.20 for this game, and that is fair enough, make them a banker in your multis.

Saturday May 08, 2010 7:10 pm
Brisbane vs. Fremantle Gabba

For both Brisbane (4-2) and Fremante (5-1) this is a BIG game. Possibly season defining, especially for Freo who face The Pies and The Swans in the next few weeks. Brown has 24 goals so far this season, and Fevola has 21, so this should be a high scoring game, so check out the under/over markets with Centrebet, IASbet and Sportsbet when they are released. Back the overs.

Sunday May 09, 2010 1:10 pm
Geelong vs. Sydney Skilled Stadium

I make this the most interesting game of the week, with AFL Flag Betting Odds favourites, The Cats, at home to Sydney, one the most improved sides of 2010. Centrebet dont agree it would seem, making the Swans big outsiders at $3.80. As good as The Cats are, they are by no means certainties to destroy The Swans as many bookies seem to think. I am backing The Swans with a 19.5 points handicap start at odds of $2.10 with Centrebet

Sunday May 09, 2010 4:40 pm
Adelaide vs. Richmond AAMI Stadium

With 12 games played between them so far this season these teams have generated a combined total of er...ZERO points. Zip. Nada. Awful, both of them. So how on earth can Adelaide be as short as $1.21 with Sportsbet to win this basement clash. Ok, so Adelaide are probably better than Richmond, but whenever awful teams match up, and one of them is on offer at $4.50 you have to back them. That is sensible betting logic in any sport. So take Richmond to break their duck at value odds of $4.50.

Monday May 10, 2010 7:20 pm
St. Kilda vs. Carlton Etihad Stadium

St Kilda Saints are not winning any new fans this season, but they are getting the job done. And are doing it the hard way. I would have thought they might be a bit shorter than the $1.44 on offer from Sportsbet and Centrebet. Carlton are ok this season, but we picked The Saints at the start, and despite their hecklers, we are sticking with them. Include St Kilda in your multis.
