Sydney's home defeat to Adelaide see the Swans 2012 AFL Flag odds increase sharply

 Sydney Swans are drifting in the betting after being crushed by the Crows

After Round 5 of the 2012 AFL season the Sydney Swans were suddenly the dark horses for the Flag.

Seemingly without notice, Sydney had a perfect 5-0 record after brushing aside Hawthorn in Tasmania, and punters were falling over themselves to back Sydney to win the flag at odds of just $9.00. Back in March you could have backed them at around $41.00.

It is testament to the confusion surrounding favourtism for the AFL Flag this year, that a home defeat against a promising Adelaide side has seen Sydney jump out hugely in the odds to $15.00. Which seems a knee jerk reaction by the bookies to what was maybe just an off day.

There are now 5 teams in single figure odds to win the Flag as we head into AFL Round 7 betting time:

Hawthorn are $4.75
Carlton are $4.75
West Coast are $5.00
Geelong are $7.00
Collingwood are $8.00

Of the teams outside the top 5 in the betting, ironically, it could be Adelaide which appeal most at $21.00 on all know form so far this year...
