AJC Metropolitan Handicap
The AJC Metropolitan Handicap is a Group 1 race for staying racehorses which takes place each October. The race is a key feature of the Sydney Autumn Carnival at Randwick Racecourse and was first run in 1863.
The race is ran over 2400 metres and the prize money is just less than $400,000. The race is open to 3 year olds and older
The AJC Metropolitan Handicap is often viewed as a good guide to the winner of the Cox Plate, which takes place at Flemington later in October
