A host of injuries for one side could be the key to picking the winner of a headline AFL clash on Friday night.

Western Bulldogs go into their tie with Geelong at the Etihad Stadium with defender Tom Williams suffering from a suspected broken foot, according to FoxSports.com.au.

Also potentially on the sidelines is the side's captain, Brad Johnson, who will undergo assessment after crashing into a goal post.

The team is already missing midfielder Daniel Cross after he underwent surgery for an ankle problem.

However, Geelong also have to face up to injury problems, with forward Travis Varcoe a doubt.

Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade has said his own side's win over the Lions at the weekend could give the team momentum for the home straight of the season.

He told the Bulldog's offiical website: "We're under no illusions what's in front of us, but having said that I think the guys will get a bit of momentum from it."

But Geelong could edge it after they pulled off their own inspiring victory at the weekend, beating Sydney Swans by five points.

Western Bulldogs stand at 2.25 with IASbet.com.au to win Friday's fixture, while Geelong are at 1.65 with the same bookmaker.
