Guineas odds shorten for So You Think
Posted on October 9th 2009 by
The Bart Cummings-trained So You Think has edged ahead of Manhattan Rain in the final hours of betting for the Caulfield Guineas.
He is now the third favourite with IASbet for the $1 million race, on odds of 6.50, having been around 7.00 earlier in the week.
Manhattan Rain, trained by Gai Waterhouse, has edged out to 7.50 with the same bookmaker, having opened on 6.50.
Both horses will have to compete with Denman, still the favourite on 2.70, and Trusting, second in the betting on 4.60.
Behind the top quartet comes Starspangledbanner, on odds of 12.00, while Tickets and Carrara follow on 16.00.
Saturday's 1600m headliner is the first major group 1 race of the spring and in particular features a duel between what are widely recognised as the top two colts in Australia.
Denman is bidding for a seventh win in a row and Trusting is seen as hot on his heels in the battle to be considered the most exciting colt in racing.
Trusting has ran to eye-catching seconds in both the Golden Rose, where he lost out to Denman, and the Guineas Prelude, where Demerit took the spoils.
