Crownbet have become the first bookie to introduce a nationwide minimum bet limit. As of June 1st 2016, punters betting on fixed odds Australian thoroughbred racing, 30 mins before the off, will be guaranteed to have any bet accepted up to a maximum return of $1,000.

As the first company to do this, CEO Matt Tripp would like to believe this will set a trend across the Australian betting market.

"We would like to think that this will pave the way for the industry to follow suit and give the punters a fairer go,” Tripp said.

“We want to make it an absolute requirement and a guarantee to the consumer that within 30 minutes of any race in Australia you will get set to win at least $1000, which no one does at the moment."

The move has been prompted by Racing Victoria announcing plans for a minimum bet rule to be in place in the state by October 1st 2016.

Racing NSW was the first to implement these rules back in 2014. Their imposed limits require bookies to accept bets up to win limits on NSW metro thoroughbred races of $2,000 on fixed odds placed after 9am on the day of the race.

Crownbet offer a very simple $100 Deposit Match Bonus bets for customers in Queensland and Tasmania, and loads of great offers for existing customers right across Australia. Open an Account here.
