The $6M prize pool is bound to attract a number of overseas horses for the 2011 Melbourne Cup - but this year's field is unprecedented in terms of foriegn domination.
Americain, the 2010 Melbourne Cup winner, again heads the betting at short odds after a facile win in the Moonee Valley Cup.
Second favourite in the odds is Dunaden, another French raider, who has taken the same path as Americain by dotting up in the Geelong Cup.
Third favourite is Lucas Cranach - brought over from Germany last month, and a creditable 5th in the Caulfield Cup. Similarly, the Bart Cummings trained Illo is also a very recent German import.
Then from the UK we have Jukebox Jury, Bauer, Fox Hunt, Drunken Sailor, Modun and Lost In The Moment to name but a few.
