Trainer Darren Weir looks to hold a strong hand heading into the Spring. Today we take a look at 3 of his superstars and where we are likely to see them this season.

Prince of Penzance

Former Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance looks set to run in the Makybe Diva Stakes in September.

Last seen out in May in the R & F Gerard R A Lee Stakes finishing second, weir reported Prince of Penzance has been working well at home with new stable mate Tosen Stardom.

“Johnny Allen rode Prince Of Penzance this morning and said he felt great. He was really happy with the way he’s moving and he looks fantastic.”

The outcome of the Makybe Diva is likely to dictate where Prince of Penzance will go from their.

Prince of Penzance is currently $34.00 to repeat his Melbourne Cup success with sportsbet.com.au.

Tosen Stardom

New recruit Tosen Stardom joined Weir's stable after missing the Queen Elizabeth Stakes due to a bleeding attack in trackwork.

Tosen Stardom also looks set to go up against Prince of Penzance in the Makybe Diva Stakes in what looks to be a strong field.

He’s a beautiful horse,” Weir said.

“He and Prince Of Penzance stretched their legs over half a mile (800m) this morning and both worked great. They’re both in fantastic order.

“He is a real standout-looking horse. I’m really excited to see where he ends up."

Tosen Stardom is likely to be aimed at the Cox Plate and is currently priced at $21.00 with sportsbet.com.au to win the race.

Black Heart Bart

Darley Goodwood winner Black Heart Bart is another heading to Moonee Valley for the Cox plate.

“They (the owners) have got their mind sort of set on the Cox Plate so we’ll head that way and see how far we get,” Weir said.

Black Heart Bart is currently in Queensland where he will spend the next couple of week working on the water walker after his winter campaign. He will return to Weir's stable once that work has been completed.

Black Heart Bart can be backed at $41.00 with sportsbet.com.au.
