Unfortunately, jockey Nick Hall lost 20 per cent of his winning riding fee on Zipping after stewards found him guilty of excessive use of the whip over the final stages. He was fined $2500 for the breach of the rule just six months after he incurred a $1000 fine for the same rule breach when he won the Australian Cup, again on Zipping.

Zipping is the firm hope of Williams's for the Cox Plate now, with Mourayan and C'est La Guerre heading for the Melbourne Cup. Williams also said that Mourayan would run in the Caulfield Cup but C'est La Guerre is being kept away from group 1 racing. Peter Moody was delighted with Typhoon Tracy, which also looked like there was a chance to win inside the 200-metre mark. ''That was her first run at the trip and she had a good blow after the race so we know we're on the right path to the Cox Plate,'' he said. Another great run was turned in by Metal Bender, which flashed home to finish fourth in a super Caulfield Cup trial. He firmed to $8 equal favourite for the Caulfield Cup following the run.
