Favourite Andy Murray has propelled himself into the Valencia Open quarter finals with a three-sets victory over Argentinian Leonardo Mayer.

The Scot came through 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and is still on top in the online tennis betting markets, on odds of 2.32 with Betfair.

He will face Albert Montanes in the quarter-final and is the strong favourite to progress in this match, on 1.07 to 13.00 for Montanes.

Also in the quarter-finals is Nikolay Davydenko, the 3.55 second favourite, who will play 42.00 outsider Guillermo Garcia Lopez.

Davydenko has already won four ATP titles this season but found life difficult at times against Aregentina's Juan Monaco, although ultimately he took the match in three sets, 6-3, 7-5.

Both Davydenko and Murray are in the early Australian Open betting, with Davydenko at 55.00 and Murray at 6.60, joint third favourite with Juan Martin Del Potro.

Roger Federer is the favourite for the January tournament, on 3.40 with Betfair, with Rafael Nadal next in the betting on 5.80.

Officials for the Open recently announced tickets are on sale for the Jan 18 to 31 event, with tennis fans from around the world expected to turn their attention to Melbourne Park.
