Ready To Lift could soar in Metropolitan

 Consistent mare Ready To Lift will be looking to build on impressive early-season performances when she runs in The Metropolitan on Saturday.

Trainer Gerald Ryan will be hoping she can build on the kind of showing which saw her edge ahead of Voice Coach in the 2000m Kingston Town Stakes last month.

The group 1 2400m handicap on Saturday is not the only race for Ryan and his team; he has no less than nine horses in seven races on a 10-race card.

Ready To Lift faces two obvious challenges – a barrier 17 draw and stayer Speed Gifted, who is the 3.40 favourite with Sportsbet.

However, according to her jockey for the Kingston Stakes, Glyn Schofield, Ready To Lift is a "wonderful gutsy mare" who is "going as well as ever".

Ready To Lift is second in the betting for Saturday, on 6.00 with Sportsbet, while wet track specialist Mr Clangtastic is on 6.50 with the same bookmaker.

Also in the running is New Zealand horse Hume on 10.00, plus compatriot Six Oclock News on 13.00, also with Sportsbet.

Saturday weather forecasts for Sydney are predicting heavy rain and temperatures of 18c to 14c, with sunshine and showers predicted for Friday.
