Star colt Denman heads the early Caulfield Guineas betting
Posted on October 5th 2009 by Pom de Turf
Denman remains the favourite in the online horse racing betting markets going into the final week before the Caulfield Guineas.
IASbet has him on odds of 3.10 for the 1600m $1 million race, behind fellow star colt Trusting on 4.80.
Manhattan Rain is the third favourite on 8.00, level in the betting with So You Think, a promising prospect trained by Bart Cummings.
Denman trainer Peter Snowden says the horse could go on to be one of the all-time greats but has a bit of ground to make up to match his father, Lonhro.
Quoted by the Courier Mail, Snowden said: "He has everything you look for in a topliner.
"He could develop into anything, but he still has a bit to do before you could put him in the same class as his father."
His main rival for Saturday, Trusting, has already tasted some success at Caulfield this spring, coming second to Demerit in the 1400m Guineas Prelude.
Gai Waterhouse-trained Manhattan Rain and Bart Cummings charge So You Think are the only other horses under double-figure odds with IASbet in the early stages of the betting.
Also in the running is Prelude winner Demerit, on odds of 19.00, while Delago Bolt is on 26.00 alongside Morethangreat and Onemorenomore.
