Thousand Guineas markets headed by Irish Lights
Posted on October 11th 2009 by
Irish Lights heads the betting for the next big race of the season after the Caulfield Guineas – Wednesday's Thousand Guineas.
The three-year-old fillies race is a 1600m run with the current favourite on 3.00 with IASbet.
Behind Irish Lights is Sister Madly, on 9.50, before Miss With Attitude and Silent Surround, both on 11.00.
Sister Madly has seen her odds shrink with many bookmakers over the past week – thanks in part to the apparent good form of trainer Anthony Cummings.
He already has group 1 wins in the locker this season, and Sister Madly boasts placings in all of her four starts.
But Irish Lights trainer David Hayes has reason to be confident the filly can live up to her odds.
She already has the Thousand Guineas Prelude at 1400m under her belt from September 19, her last race, and Hayes said last week he was happy for her to have Wednesday's race as her third of the campaign.
Quoted by Racing and Sports, he said: "She can work as well as anything now she's back in the zone. She was a bit lazy earlier in her preparation but between her first and second runs she started to wake up."
