Trainer Clarry Conners will be hoping his luck changes when Glowlamp runs in the Matriarch Stakes at Flemington on Saturday.

He has spent Melbourne Cup week in hospital with a plaster cast on one leg after falling in the shower two weeks ago, and is hoping for a turn of fortune in the shape of an eye-catching group 2 win.

Glowlamp has twice ended up in the placings in group 1 races, but only has one win so far in 23 outings.

She lines up as an 18.00 shot for the 2000m race, with Lady Lynette named the early favourite at 4.00 with Centrebet.

However, Conners is confident Glowlamp can come good on Saturday and put a smile back on his face.

He told AAP: "Luke Nolen is riding her and he's riding heaps of winners at the moment.

"She is dropping down in class a bit and she only has 53kg.

"It's the right race for her and she should run the 2000 metres, she was fifth in a Wakeful. We just want her to win one of these nice races."

However she will face a strong challenge from Lady Lynette, who scooped the group 3 Tesio Stakes at Moonee Valley over 1600m last month.
