Hawthorn circle for a ruckman
Posted on November 25th 2009 by
Hawthorn are on the verge of moving forward in making their picks for the AFL draft.
Their aim is to get themselves a ruckman with considerable experience and skill, and names that have been coming up include such up and coming players as Chris Bryan (Collingwood) and John Meesen (Melbourne).
Robbie Campbell was subject to a forced retirement, which is one of the factors that have made The Hawks anxious to fill spaces.
Another factor that has made the recruitment drive a key matter has been the knee injury of one of their players, Max Bailey.
Cameron Cloke and Adam Pattinson, from Carlton and Richmond respectively, seem to be their first choices for the draft.
Cloke has been linked with Port Adelaide, however this is certainly not a given, and currently seems unlikely.
The Hawks have other ruckmen, namely Brent Renouf, Luke Lowden and Simon Taylor.
Hawthorn has six selections in the draft.
The team are on at AFL odds of 9.00 to win the whole thing, according to Sportsbet.
