Saturday's group 1 MacKinnon Stakes at Flemington will not feature Bankable after the galloper was ruled out due to injury.

The horse is owned by Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov and is believed to have developed a hoof problem which sees him out of the 2000m race.

The six-year-old may still recover in time for the group 1 1600m Emirates Stakes on November 7.

Quoted by Sportal.com.au, trainer Herman Brown said: "He seems to have a pulse in the near foreleg but it's hard to pinpoint just what's wrong.

"It's very disappointing because he is otherwise so well in himself but we've decided not to enter him in the MacKinnon and concentrate on trying to get him right for the Emirates."

However, Kadyrov could have a horse in the Melbourne Cup in the shape of Mourilyan, also under the direction of Brown at Sandown.

Mourilyan is currently on odds of 19.00 at IASbet's Melbourne Cup betting market, with Alcopop and Efficient currently topping the odds, both on 6.50.

It is thought Kadyrov himself is unlikely to be at the spring carnival due to allegations of human rights abuses which have caused a furore, which could bar his entry to the country.
