AFL: All The Odds For a Busy Saturday’s AFL
June 25th, 2014 by TJ DilferYou won’t find a busier day of sport than this Saturday, especially if you’re an AFL fan – you’ll do well to catch all five games on the day, but if you’re anything like us, then you’ll be setting the old telly recorder or circling the highlights on the schedule. Whatever happens, there will be lots for the press to mull over come Sunday morning, and even more at the end of Round 15 – so make sure you’ve got all your Round 15 odds!
First off is a tough fixture for the Suns, who are having a season very much in line with their ambitions, and who are still clinging onto a finals spot with their fingernails. If they can beat Hawthorn, then the Suns will feel – they’ve got a decent run in to the end of the season – that they can dig themselves into a finals spot. That’s easier said than, done, of course, against a Hawks side who are second on the ladder and who have four wins from their last five games…
Then it’s a titanic bottom-of-the-ladder clash between Richmond and St Kilda. It’s probably fair to say both sides have fans who have given up on the 2014 campaign already, but there’s pride at stake here, as the loser in this one could well end up propping up the rest of the ladder. Brisbane, meanwhile, who are also flirting with the foot of the ladder, are an outside chance against North Melbourne, and their fans will be hoping that there are some easy points on offer on Saturday to dig them into the top eight.
And in between those two games both Sydney and Fremantle are in action – the Swans against GWS and Fremantle against West Coast. Saturday is a chance for the Swans to put right the shock that opened their season, and they are in great form, but we keep seeing the headlines if the Giants can overturn their neighbours again. Fremantle would love that, too – it would give them a chance to close the gap on the Swans if they can grab the win.
