AFL Odds: Can Hawthorn Win It Again?
June 9th, 2014 by TJ DilferRound Twelve is only just done, the curtain brought down by Collingwood and Melbourne and a titanic wrestle that saw the Pies down the Demons, leaving them adrift of the finals spots. We’re already looking ahead at all the Round Thirteen odds, though, and that got us thinking about the reigning premiers Hawthorn: can they haul Port Adelaide in, and will that make it less likely that they can do the incredible and hold onto the pennant?
Hawthorn are a $5.00 bet at the moment to win the minor premiership, but with Port Adelaide currently eight points clear and on half those odds, that might not be what the Hawks are focussing on. It’s all about the Grand Final, after all, but Hawthorn aren’t the favourites to either reach the Grand Final or to win it: both those honours go to a resurgent Swans side. So, have Sydney timed their run to peak just at the right time? Or are Hawthorn gathering themselves for the business end of the season? A win on Friday night will help – the Hawks are odds-on to beat Carlton, and you can’t ask any more of them than that they keep winning games!
