AFL: Odds Favour Freemantle In Grand Final Replay

April 1st, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

Hawthorn are looking strong. We’re only two rounds into the AFL season, but already the depth of their squad has been hinted at. After a good win in Round One over Brisbane and a closer one against Essendon a week ago, the Hawks are showing strength all through the squad, and all around the park – Matt Suckling looked like he was getting back to good form against Essendon, and that will only make Hawthorn fans happier after two wins from two games. The reigning premiers continue their season against Freemantle on Friday night, and it will be a good game to kick off a frantic weekend of AFL action that we’re very much looking forward to: what better way to kick things off that with the Grand Final replay? It’s also a game that will go a good way to deciding the who carries the favourites tag for the 2014 season: the Dockers go in favourites to find a measure of revenge for the Grand Final, and they’re a $1.80 bet on Sportsbet right now. Would you bet against the Hawks at $2.00, though? You can see all the 2014 AFL odds for these two big contenders by following the link…

Once you’ve whet your appetite with the Grand Final replay, Saturday brings you a feast of AFL action. Things kick off with a clash between the Bulldogs and Richmond that Tigers fans will see as a good chance to pick up points. Western Bulldogs were responsible for their share of Round Two’s worst game by a stretch, so they will have it all on to bounce back and threaten those $3.35 odds and the win. Richmond are the $1.32 favourites, and all the predictions we’ve seen are leaning their way.

Next up are Adelaide and Sydney, two sides both searching for their first wins of the season. The problem for Adelaide has been a lack of power up front, so you’d expect to see a few changes in that department – they go in as the $2.25 outsiders. Sydney’s troubles are a little harder to define, and it’s early still to be calling them problems. One of those two defeats was an upset that will live long in the memories of GWS fans, and Round Two saw the Swans on the receiving end of a surging Collingwood comeback win that has silenced a few of the Pies’ more vocal detractors. Whatever happens, there will be lots of motivation in the Sydney ranks, and you would expect them to make good on their $1.64 odds and grab their first win of the season.
