AFL Odds: Welcome To The Last Chance Saloon

August 27th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

We said in our last article that Round 23 features half a dozen games that will break the hearts of some fans and send others into raptures – it’s that time of the season. We’ve got all the odds for Round 23, of course, including all of those make-or-break games, but there’s much more on offer, too, on our AFL odds page, from futures for the finals to all the betting markets for the Brownlow and the rest…

Maybe the biggest game of the round will be the clash between Sydney and Richmond that’s scheduled for the ANZ stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Swans have been looking great since they put a few early wobbles behind them, and Buddy Franklin looks to have settled in very nicely indeed. But Richmond are the story of the last few weeks, and if this were a Disney film, they would bond as a team, grow as people and squeak into the finals – their season is developing that kind of fairy-tale quality after a run of eight straight wins has put them tantalisingly within reach of a finals place. All they have to do is beat Sydney, the favourites for the flag. The odds might be against them, but what does that matter?

And if the Tigers can’t make a dream ending out of their 2014 campaign, then it could be that the West Coast boys benefit. They take on Gold Coast on Sunday – the Suns are all but out of the race for eighth barring an improbable series of events – and they have the chance of making their healthy percentage count and sneaking into the last of the finals spots. No pressure, of course…

If the Suns somehow muster a performance to make sidelined skipper Gary Ablett proud, they could leave the door open for the Crows to sneak into that eighth spot: even after losing two games on the bounce (both of them labelled in advance as must-win games in the Adelaide season), the Crows can still be playing finals footie. They need results to go their way, of course, but stranger things have happened. The Saints could beat them, for instance.

So get all those AFL odds for the finals and the medals – plus all the betting markets – just by clicking the link, and enjoy the last round of the regular season!
