NRL Odds: The Futures On Offer

December 14th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

The NRL odds for the first round of the 2015 season might not have started appearing yet, but those fixtures have been decided now, and it’s only a matter of time before you can get money down on your team making a winning start to the season. In the meantime, of course, there’s not exactly a shortage of bets on offer at online betting sites like Sportsbet when it comes to the NRL – we’re seeing futures and outrights aplenty, even without branching out beyond the NRL and the Nines into the Super League or the Challenge Cup.

As you might have expected, it’s the two Sydney sides level-pegging in the eyes of the bookmakers for the 2015 season: both the Rabbitohs and the Roosters have odds of $6.00 beside their names as of right now. That’s all well and good, and business as usual for the perennial high-achievers of the NRL, but there was a real challenge from more than a few other franchises in 2014, and we saw evidence that just about anyone could win on their day. With that in mind, consider the fact that Manly, who let the minor premiership slip through their fingers in the dying stages of last season, are a $12.00 bet today to win the title in 2015, and there are a string of sides between them and the Roosters and the Rabbitohs at $6.00. Five teams, in fact, with odds of $12.00 or under to win the title – and amongst them the over-achieving Panthers, the always-dangerous Storm and a Bulldogs side who arguably played some of the best Rugby League of the 2014 season.

Plenty to choose from already, then, when you look at the NRL odds, and that’s without considering the State of Origin (the bookies predict another close series, with Queensland the early favourites, in case you were wondering) or any of the other bets you could make. We’ll be keeping you up-to-date with the news as it happens in these pages, and taking a look at a few of the key teams for the 2015 season – and more besides – so check back regularly!
