NRL: Roosters and Dragons Odds-On On Friday Night
March 24th, 2014 by TJ DilferRound Three is pretty much done and dusted, with just a clash between the Storm and Newcastle tomorrow night to go before the round is wrapped up – and it’s been another great batch of NRL games. Better yet, we don’t have long to wait before the teams are back in action, with Round Four offering up some tantalising fixtures, and a couple of games on Friday night that we’ll be paying some close attention to.
The Roosters are your $3.80 favourites to take the title in 2014, and they have reacted well to their surprise defeat at the hands of the Rabbitohs in their season opener. Since then, they’ve been in the wins, and they showed resilience worthy of title holders to sneak past the Broncos in Round Three. There were three tries in the last few minutes of a pulsating back-and-forth contest that the Broncos will be disappointed not to have taken the points from, but in truth there were a number of errors from the reigning premiers that kept Brisbane in the contest. The Roosters are the $1.60 favourites to chalk up another win on Friday, but they will have a tough job ahead of them against a Manly side who themselves fought right to the end to deny the Eels the upset that they had worked so hard for. Expect the Sea Eagles to scrap right to the final whistle on Friday night, then – they are a $2.25 bet…
Friday’s other game sees the Broncos back in action after that heart-breaking defeat to the Roosters. They’ll take encouragement from the way they pushed the premiers deep into the final moments, but ultimately the result will have to go down as a disappointment. Brisbane are the $2.05 outsiders when they run out against the Dragons in Round Four, and that’s likely because the Dragons are undefeated so far this season, and showing some good form, especially from speedster Brett Morris, who scored an early contender for try of the season against the Sharks in Round Three. Expect the Dragons to bring plenty of momentum with them into their clash with the Broncos – they are the $1.72 favourites…
