NRL: Saturday’s Games Previewed – Eels Long Odds At $4.00

March 11th, 2014 by TJ Dilfer

There was disappointment for the Warriors in their first game of the 2014 campaign, and a lot of work to do for the Kiwis if they want to bounce straight back to winning ways against Illawarra on Saturday night. They’ve more than got the players to do just that, of course, and they’re the strong $1.28 favourites going into the game. There might be Dragons fans fancying their side at $3.50 to pile the misery on the Warriors, though, after they put in a strong performance to beat Wests Tigers by a clear 20 points in their first outing. Do you fancy them at those odds, too?

The Eels, on the back of that win over the Warriors, have a much more difficult prospect at the weekend: a Sydney Roosters side that has had plenty of pundits predicting big things this season. They are joint favourites at $4.75 (along with the Rabbitohs) to do the implausible and retain the premiership, but they suffered more than a slight setback at the hands of those same Rabbitohs in their season opener. They’re getting $1.25 odds to surge back to winning ways against the Eels, but with Parramatta carrying the momentum with them from their win over the Warriors, can you see them defying their odds of $3.75?

In between those games on Saturday, the Storm and Penrith will meet, and both sides will want to enjoy the feeling of being a winning side for that little bit longer – both were winners in their first outings, though the Panthers racked up the bigger margin against the Knights. Melbourne are the $1.37 favourites, while Sportsbet are offering $3.00 for a Panthers win. Of course, there are betting markets (lots of them) on offer right now on Sportsbet to help you make what is already looking like a busy weekend of NRL action that little bit more spicy. Don’t forget, either, that they’re offering a great refund deal at the moment…
