It’s a Wednesday night, but you might want to think about shelving any plans you have, because the second game of the State of Origin series will be hitting your TV, and it’s set up to be a real rumble! The State of Origin odds have shifted in favour of the Blues, and all eyes are on the Queensland squad to see if they can scrap their way back into the series…
With eight years of dominance behind them, the Maroons haven’t faced down the odds much in recent times. The players won’t be too troubled by the underdogs tag, we suspect – league players are incredibly professional these days, and the first game was so close that it could have gone either way almost up to the final whistle – but spare a thought for Queensland fans. After nearly a decade of crowing, there are Maroons fans staring down the barrel of a taste of their own medicine come Wednesday night, and we think there’ll be no shortage of Blues devotees placing a bet on their boys to win at odds of $1.72. How they’ll be wishing they’d had the guts to back them at more than $2 to win the series!
