Elliotto bursts into Railway Stakes contention

Five-year-old Elliotto has shouldered his way into the $1 million Railway Stakes after winning the 1500m R.J. Peters Stakes at Ascot.

The Neville Parnham-trained horse had to beat off the challenge of fellow Railway bidder Colour Correct, but won through to clinch a narrow win.

Colour Correct ended up in second and may still sneak into the November 21 highlight, depending on who accepts for the race.

Parnham said of Elliotto: "He proved he was up to them last start and Steven gave him a good ride today.

"We will push forward for the Railway and I think we have a good chance."

Online horse racing markets for the Railway are yet to open at most bookmakers, but Elliotto is likely to be among the main chances.

Ortensia is to complete a track run on Tuesday which will determine whether or not she appears next Saturday or is held for the group 2 Winterbottom Stakes a week after.

Gold Salute, a likely favourite for Saturday, will be looking to win his first group race and seal an invitation to December's Hong Kong Mile on International day.
