‘Forget it’ is the message from Megatic trainer Albie Beckett for punters concerned about the horse’s last start failure.

Megatic appears in the 1600m Railway Stakes at Ascot on Saturday having failed to impress in the Lee Steere Stakes at the same course earlier this month.

Beckett says the horse has come on leaps and bounds since the last appearance and is now ready to take on the favourites in the $1 million race.

The veteran trainer told Perthracing.com.au: “Paddy (Carbery, jockey) told me after the work-out that Megatic had performed better on Tuesday than he did in his three-year-old days when he won the Guineas and the Kingston Town Stakes.”

When asked about the disappointment of the 1400m Lee Steere on November 7, he said Carbery had stated the horse should have been ridden more aggressively.

“Forget the run, was the advice from Paddy,” Beckett added.

The latest odds from the horse racing betting market at Centrebet put Megatic at joint seventh in the betting on 16.00, although this has dropped from an earlier price of 19.00.

Gold Salute is still the clear favourite on 4.25, down from 4.50, with All American at 6.00, down from 6.50.

Third in the betting is mare Ortensia, at 7.50 and one of the bigger recent movers, down from 9.00.
