Gold Salute confirmed as early Railway Stakes favourite
Posted on November 17th 2009 by
Gold Salute has been installed as the 4.40 favourite for the group 1 Railway Stakes this weekend.
The galloper shot to the top of Betfair's horse racing market after scooping a reasonable barrier draw, ending up with gate seven.
Punters soon backed him heavily for the 1600m race at Ascot after the six-year-old's draw – seven is a gate which is almost halfway through the field of 16 and two emergencies.
Damien Oliver will partner the Mark Riley-trained horse on Saturday.
Betfair's market also recorded 7.00 for All American – the early second favourite and set to be piloted by Corey Brown.
Grand Nirvana comes up third on odds of 8.00 and Kasabian, a gelding who has won his last six starts, is at 9.00.
Snipers Bullet is on odds of 12.00 and Tarzi, who came second in the group 2 Lee Steere Stakes, is in barrier five and on odds of 15.00.
Elliotto, who muscled his way into the race with a close win over the weekend, is at 17.00.
