Majestic Music to take on the boys in Sandown Guineas

An eye-catching win for filly Majestic Music seems to have set her up for a strong shot against the boys in the Sandown Guineas on Saturday.

Trainer Leon Macdonald has said she deserves her chance in the 1600m race and said the horse was even more talented than her illustrious relatives.

Majestic Music won the 1400m listed Lexus Hybrid at Flemington last Tuesday and did well in the group 1 Thousand Guineas last month despite ending up in seventh.

Quoted by AAP, Macdonald said: "Where Serious Speed has a few issues Majestic Music is very mature mentally as well as physically.

"I think she is very, very good and her form shows that."

Serious Speed won the 2007 Guineas and is the sister to Majestic Music's mother.

Three fillies in total were among 12 entries taken on Monday for Saturday's race, likely to be a big draw for horse racing fans eager for more action after the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Also in the mix is gelding It'llbefantastic, who won the listed Hilton Stakes over 1400m on Saturday.
