Master trainer Bart Cummings has So You Think running in Saturday's Cox Plate after the Moonee Valley Racing Club committee opted to include him in the field.

However, the three-year-old colt was less than impressive in trackwork on the tight circuit on Tuesday, leading Cummings to deliver a history lesson to sceptical reporters.

''He got a bit lost,'' Cummings said of So You Think's unsteady run-out, ''Saintly wobbled around that [home] turn the first time he came here, too. Then he did it again when he won the Cox Plate.''

Cummings was referring to his 1996 winner who went on to claim the Melbourne Cup.

Saturday's 2040m weight-for-age battle features Moonee Valley specialist Whobegotyou, current favourite on 2.70 with IASbet, plus Heart Of Dreams at 6.00 and Speed Gifted, who is proving popular in the Melbourne Cup betting markets.

So You Think was initially installed at 13.00 with IASbet for Saturday but dropped quickly to 11.00.

Also appearing in the $2.5 million event are Manhattan Rain and Rock Kingdom, both trained by Gai Waterhouse and on 17.00 and 16.00 respectively.

New Zealand galloper Sir Slick is also in the running at odds of 201.00 with IASbet, after connections of Rangirangdoo withdrew their horse after an unpromising gallop at Moonee Valley.
