Melbourne Spring Odds: Botti Trio Making Themselves At Home

October 9th, 2014 by Pom de Turf

Here’s three more overseas raiders to add to your checklist when you’re going over those Racing odds for the signature races of the Melbourne Spring: Dandino, Seismos and Guest of Honour are safely in Australia, settling in well by all accounts, and starting to get into their preparations for their Melbourne Cup and Caulfield Cup campaigns.

All three are trained by Marco Botti, and all three are definitely going to be real contenders in the 2014 Melbourne Spring. It’s owner Darren Dance who has been talking to the press in the last week, though, and making all the right noises about a successful trip to Australia: ‘all our three travelled out well. They all drank lots of water and ate their feed. The weight loss for each horse was minimal.’ Both Seismos and Dandino lost about 10kg on the flight (which doesn’t sound all that minimal to us!), where Guest of Honour managed not to lose any weight at all on the journey (which sounds more like us…). Either way, all three are back to the sort of condition Botti and Dance will want them in to start they preparations: ‘they just had a bit of a walk around this morning and they all look really good and bright. We’re really pleased with the way they have settled in. They will go out on the track tomorrow for the first time to have a bit of a walk around and then we might do a little bit of work with them later in the week. You can’t afford to really have any setbacks when you are going for these big races, so I was pleased we didn’t have any.’

So far, so good, then, for three European raiders who could be having their say in a couple of the highest-profile races in the Australian calendar – make sure you’ve got all the Racing odds you need to be ready for them by clicking that there link!
