Melbourne Spring Odds: Nozomi Shortens For The Derby

October 29th, 2014 by Pom de Turf

Nozomi has been right in amongst the Racing odds for the VRC Derby for a while, but last week saw some real movement in the odds beside his name at Sportsbet, and punters who had him backed before his odds shortened dramatically will be very pleased with themselves right about now. He still has to come home for them to cash in, of course, but there might well be a few more people putting their money behind him between now and Derby day…

It’s all thanks to an eye-catching win at Geelong – a run that has him a little closer to the centre of bookies’ and punters’ thoughts for the VRC Derby, according to Sportsbet spokesman Shaun Anderson, though he’s not alone by any means: ‘anyone who was on Nozomi will like what they saw in Geelong. But given its finish, Preferment now looks a genuine contender to Hampton Court’.

There’s plenty of time for those Racing odds to shift either way between now and November 1st and the VRC Derby, of course, and we might even see the same sort of dramatic swing that has affected Nozomi between now and jump-off, so make sure you’re up-to-date with those odds by clicking the link!
