Melbourne Spring Racing Odds: Silent Achiever Looks For Quiet Memsie Stakes

August 27th, 2014 by Pom de Turf

Silent Achiever is a horse who’ll see her fair share of attention as we run through the 2014 Melbourne Spring, but she’ll be looking for a quiet start to the campaign – trainer Roger James has in mind a Memsie Stakes run that eases her into the Spring Festival, in which she’ll be a feature of the Racing odds, we have no doubt.

James rates Silent Achiever as perhaps the best mare he has trained, and she has repaid his faith pretty well in 2014 to date, with a great run of four wins including the Ranvet and BMW. The run came to an end when It’ A Dundeel took revenge for the BMW defeat Silent Achiever handed him, and Roger’s James’ Kiwi mare came in fourth in that race, the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Randwick. But she’s looking to bounce back and bring James some big results in the Melbourne Spring – hence the planned quiet start to the campaign in the Memsie.

It’s a strong field, mind, in the Memsie Stakes (one that includes Foreteller and Puissance De Lune) so it’s going to be a decent indication of how Silent Achiever could shape up in the 2014 Melbourne Spring. She’s likely to be a fixture of the Racing odds, but her run in the Memsie will give us a better idea how competitive she’ll be…
